BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location: Remote (Canada-based, with travel to HQ and customer sites)
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 CAD base salary + performance-based variable compensation
Work Schedule: Your normal work week is Monday to Friday, forty (40) hours per week. Your scheduled start and end times may vary but will be during regular hours of operation for our business.
SUMMARY: Sensor Technology Ltd. is a Canadian manufacturer of piezoelectric ceramics and underwater acoustic sensing systems, serving defence, marine science, medical, and energy markets worldwide. We need a Business Development Representative who will build our new customer pipeline from the ground up — starting immediately.
This is a pure hunting role. You’ll research prospects, open doors, qualify opportunities, and close first orders with organizations that have never bought from SensorTech before. If you get energy from cold outreach, live for the trade show floor, and measure your weeks by how many new conversations you started, this is your role
Responsibilities
New Logo Acquisition
- Research and engage prospects in defence, marine science, medical device, and energy sectors.
- Build and maintain a 100-prospect target list within 90 days of start.
- Initiate outreach through phone, email, LinkedIn, and in-person trade show conversations.
- Develop a $2M qualified pipeline within 12 months.
Sales Qualification & Pipeline Management
- Qualify every opportunity through the MEDDPIC framework before handoff to an Account Manager or direct close.
- Maintain accurate CRM records with every prospect interaction logged and pipeline stages current.
- Provide weekly pipeline forecasts and prospecting activity reports.
Trade Shows & Industry Events
- Represent SensorTech at defence and marine industry trade shows and conferences.
- Execute pre-show targeting, booth engagement, and structured post-show follow-up within 48 hours.
Product & Market Knowledge
- Complete structured onboarding training on SensorTech’s product lines, manufacturing capabilities, and target markets.
- Develop enough technical fluency to have credible first conversations with engineers and procurement teams.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Skills, Assests)
- 2–5 years in business development, inside sales, or technical sales in manufacturing, sensors, electronics, or defence.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect and open new accounts from scratch.
- Comfortable with cold outreach: phone, email, LinkedIn, trade show conversations.
- Strong research skills — can identify the right contacts and entry points at target organizations.
- Disciplined approach to CRM usage and pipeline management.
- Experience with MEDDPIC or similar qualification-based sales methodologies is an asset.
- Familiarity with defence procurement or technical manufacturing environments is an asset.
- Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods registration is required.
