Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum + up to 10% bonus

Main Purpose of The Role:
The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist will play a key role in building capability across the business by delivering high‑quality learning experiences. With a primary focus on delivering core training programmes, the role ensures our people have the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to perform at their best and contribute to business success.
Alongside delivery, the L&D Specialist will support the design and development of learning content, resources, and workshops, ensuring all interventions are engaging, impactful, and aligned with business priorities. The role involves delivering both virtual and face‑to‑face training and supporting colleagues in achieving their full potential. Travel to sites may be required to deliver targeted training to our operational teams and leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning Design and Delivery:
- Deliver engaging and effective learning sessions across the organisation, including continuous improvement and evaluation of:
- New starter induction and on-boarding programmes
- Customer service skills training, supporting consistent service excellence
- Core skills workshops (e.g. communication, problem‑solving, teamwork, resilience)
- Compliance and regulatory training, including ESG-linked requirements and legislation changes
- Leadership Fundamentals for new and existing managers
- Facilitate both in-person and virtual training, adapting style and methods to suit learners.
- Travel to operational and frontline sites to deliver targeted, role-specific training where needed.
- Create an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, builds capability, and supports behaviour change.
- Gather and act on learner feedback to continually refine training delivery.
- Ensure all training aligns with our values, policies, and quality standards.
- Carry out training needs analysis and support the development and delivery of the annual L&D plan.
- Design and deliver new workshops and programmes in line with business needs.
- Stay up to date with training trends and best practice.
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness and ROI, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with the L&D Lead and other L&D Specialists to deliver initiatives that support critical business needs including ESG requirements, compliance, legislation.
- Contribute to broader L&D projects and continuous improvement of learning offerings.
- Support the design of L&D processes and guidelines working collaboratively with the wider HR Team service delivery model.
People/Leadership:
- This role will be the key liaison between learners, stakeholders and training providers (if appropriate) to ensure successful completion of learning and bridge capability gaps.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to understand ongoing business needs.
- Work in partnership with wider HR Team to create engaging campaigns.
- Support various L&D projects as and when required.
- Leading self – individual contributor with no direct reports.
- Consistently role model the company values and behaviours.
Financial/Reporting:
- Produce the monthly MI data incl. learning interventions and progress tracker.
- Support the L&D Lead with the annual budget, tracking and reporting on a regular basis.
Governance/Risk/Process:
- Ensure standards and guidelines are in place and adhered to.
- Support updating of L&D policies as and when required.
- Provide effective data and insight to key stakeholders to enable better decision making and action.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
Essential:
- Strong commercial and business understanding linking training with key strategic business goals
- Strong design and facilitation skills including leadership and management development programmes and employee lifecycle training
- Must be able to work on own initiative
- Have a positive outlook towards change and working as a team
- The ability to deliver both face-to-face and online training
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of different learning styles
- Expert knowledge and experience of the learning cycle
- Strong ‘service provider’ ethic and passionate about delivering to their ‘customers’
- Highly organised and disciplined in how they work
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond quickly, resilient
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Technology orientated and digitally savvy – incl. software packages Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to create training courses both online and in person
- Continuous improvement and process mentality
- Have energy, drive, proactive and passionate about developing people
- Willingness to travel to support all programmes
Desirable:
- Work with basic project management principles to deliver outcomes
