Job Description
The Future Skills team enables Heathrow’s future by equipping our people with the skills, capabilities and careers to thrive. Through impactful learning, training, and talent solutions, we build a safe, inclusive, and future-ready workforce, working as one team to deliver agile, high-performing talent for Heathrow and our community. The Senior L&D Manager forms part of the Talent & Learning leadership team.
We are currently recruiting a number of new positions, including two Senior L&D Managers which will focus on using strategic workforce planning insights to develop future-ready capabilities (Future Skills) and the second role will ensure colleagues build the business-critical capabilities needed to perform and progress. This includes compliance, essential business skills, and professional qualifications.
Your role will involve
- Owning the design, development, and delivery of learning pathways and programmes that build critical capabilities for the organisation. This includes both professional/essential skills and future skills, ensuring solutions are engaging, scalable, and aligned to business needs.
- Overseeing governance frameworks for learning, including mandatory and regulatory requirements. Ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and risk mitigation through robust processes and timely visibility of completion rates and performance.
- Translating strategic workforce planning insights into targeted capability development roadmaps. Ensuring all learning interventions are aligned with business priorities and support career progression and future-ready capability.
- Collaborating with internal teams (HR, Talent & Learning, business units) and external providers/accreditors to curate, source, and deliver high-quality learning solutions. Fostering cross-functional partnerships to ensure the learning offer is innovative and meets organisational needs.
- Tracking and reporting on learning outcomes using data and analytics. Evaluating the impact of learning solutions, iterate based on insights, and advocate for a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth across the organisation.
These Skills Are Essential
- Proven experience in learning and development and learning design at a senior level, specifically in designing and delivering learning solutions that address organisational capability needs, whether focused on future skills (like AI, data literacy, and digital skills) or professional business and essential skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and embed design frameworks (5Di or similar), methodologies, or standards for large or complex organisations.
- Strong skills in learning design are essential, with the ability to create engaging, outcome-focused solutions that blend digital, social, and experiential approaches.
- Experience in aligning learning interventions with business strategy and talent priorities. Both roles involve translating strategic workforce planning insights into targeted capability development and conducting diagnostics or consulting to identify and address skill gaps.
- Experience using data and analytics to evaluate learning outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong experience managing budgets, performance metrics, governance processes and risk mitigation in a learning context.
