JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Training is a key strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously enhancing the training and development strategy for the Admissions organization. This role ensures all training programs — from new hire onboarding to advanced leadership development — align with business goals, regulatory compliance, and a culture of high performance and accountability.
The Director of Training will oversee a team of Training Specialists and partner cross-functionally with Admissions Leadership, Compliance, Academics, and Financial Aid to ensure a consistent, high-quality admissions experience. They will also leverage performance data and system analytics to refine content, identify trends, and drive measurable improvement in conversion, quality, and engagement outcomes.
This individual combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership, ensuring training initiatives evolve with business needs, technology, and the changing higher education landscape.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Admissions training strategy that supports short- and long-term business goals.
- Partner closely with the Executive Vice President and Vice President of Admissions to identify evolving training priorities and ensure alignment with department objectives and performance outcomes.
- Foster a scalable, sustainable coaching culture across all Admissions teams, ensuring consistent standards of excellence.
- Develop and manage the annual training roadmap, including new hire training, ongoing training sessions, and compliance refreshers.
Program Development & Delivery:
- Oversee all facets of Admissions new hire and ongoing training Sessions, ensuring content remains current, relevant, and engaging.
- Incorporate insights from system analytics, performance dashboards, and Revenue AI tools to continuously optimize training content and delivery.
- Partner with the Compliance team and Process and Quality Manager to ensure training content aligns with Title IV, accreditation, and institutional policies.
- Collaborates closely with the Director of Training and Development to design, enhance, and implement admissions development programs that strengthen leadership, coaching, and performance across all levels of the department.
Performance Analysis & Quality:
- Audit and evaluate the effectiveness of training and coaching programs using measurable performance indicators (conversion rates, quality scores, compliance metrics, reps scorecards, etc.).
- Translate audit findings into actionable improvement plans and communicate trends and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Implement continuous feedback loops with Admissions leaders to ensure training outcomes drive desired behaviors and results.
Collaboration & Change Enablement:
- Serve as a key partner to department heads (Admissions, Academics, Compliance, Operations, and Student Finance) to align cross-functional processes and communications.
- Lead or support initiatives related to process improvement, change management, and technology adoption within Admissions.
- Create and maintain training documents, playbooks, and process manuals to support procedural consistency and scalability.
- Support communication and rollout of new processes, system updates, and policy changes across the Admissions department.
Team Leadership:
- Directly supervise and mentor Training Specialists, providing guidance, professional development, and performance feedback.
- Promote collaboration and innovation within the Training team, encouraging new ideas and modern learning approaches (microlearning, virtual simulations, AI-driven training analytics, etc.).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in training, coaching, or learning and development, preferably within higher education or a sales-driven environment.
- Proven experience leading training teams and managing large-scale onboarding or performance improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and Revenue AI tools used in Admissions environments (e.g., Salesforce or similar systems).
- Deep understanding of Title IV, accreditation, and compliance standards within for-profit education.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong instructional design and facilitation skills, both in-person and virtual.
- Analytical and data-driven, with experience using metrics to measure training effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability.
- Proven ability to drive engagement and build leadership capability across distributed teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business equipment. Sitting for long periods of time; up to 8 hours of computer and/or phone work daily.

The expected Salary range for this position is between $85,000 - $100,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
