Job Description
Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced and visionary
Director of Learning & Development. With a workforce of approximately 3,500 employees across multiple regions, this role will play a critical part in building a culture of continuous learning, leadership growth, and future talent development.
The Director of Learning & Development will be responsible for implementing scalable learning solutions, designing self-paced and role-specific training pathways, and working closely with senior and regional leadership to align learning initiatives with organizational goals.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Enhancement of Established Values and Programs:
Continue to drive core values deep in the organization, specifically the value of Servant Leadership. Also, the Director of Learning & Development will work with Safety and Training to coordinate and enhance the Apprenticeship Program.
- Implement and Manage the LMS:
- Lead the selection, deployment, and ongoing management of a robust Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring it is fully integrated with the employee portal and accessible for self-paced learning across the organization.
- Design and Develop Learning Programs: Create engaging, relevant, and scalable learning programs for employees at all levels. This includes self-directed modules, interactive content, and hybrid learning experiences that drive performance and career growth.
- Build Supervisor Development Tracks: Develop structured learning pathways for employees identified as future supervisors or leaders, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and behaviors necessary for success in leadership roles.
- Identify and Develop Talent Pipelines: Collaborate with Executive Team, Leadership Team, and Human Resources to proactively identify high-potential employees and enroll them in targeted development programs aligned with succession planning efforts.
- Partner with Regional Leadership: Act as a strategic business partner to regional leaders by co-developing and facilitating leadership development programs that address local challenges and priorities, ensuring learning is relevant and actionable at all levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in learning and development, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated success implementing and managing an LMS and building end-to-end training programs from the ground up.
- Proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including executive and regional leadership.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and program evaluation skills.
- Experience working in complex, multi-site or distributed organizations is a strong plus.
- Travel will be necessitated by this role to work with regional leaders and operations. Travel is expected to be up to15%, but may vary based on operational needs.
