Position Title: Learning & Development Manager

Compensation: $85,000 - $90,000 Annually

The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for fostering employee growth and development by creating a culture of learning. They are responsible for leading, designing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s learning & development initiatives for employees across all distribution centers.

The mission of Food Bank of the Rockies is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities
- Assess training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers and employees
- Develop training programs to fulfill employees’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills
- Present in-person and virtual training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussions, lectures, simulations, and videos
- Design and implement training curriculum for all locations and departments
- Lead the organizational deployment and maintenance of the DiSC assessment tool
- Design and implement development planning curriculum and pathways for organization
- Oversee employee development and training events, including new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Oversee the administration of the learning management system to include content, calendar, updates, and users
- Partner with Chief People Officer, Leadership, and Department Managers to support organizational learning and development needs
- Develop training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials
- Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback
- Review training materials and manuals to meet specific training needs
- Monitor training programs and manuals to ensure that they are effective and up-to-date
- Work with managers to address learning issues, instruction problems, or new educational needs regarding specific employees or departments
- Partner with managers and directors to create a mentoring relationship for employees, ensuring access to development and training opportunities
- Research, suggest, and manage any external training support or vendors
- Handle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or others
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Commitment to fulfilling the Food Bank of the Rockies mission and positively representing the brand both internally and externally
- Ability to translate organizational values of diversity, inclusivity, and equity into HR and other administrative practices
- Ability to manage relationships with employees and other leaders of the organization; serve as a trusted partner and subject matter expert
- Confident public speaker with excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- Strong instructional skills to deliver training programs to employees using a variety of teaching techniques and adapt to methods to meet the needs of individual departments
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
- Ability to design and implement effective staff training and development
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally, respecting employee privacy while maintaining company confidentiality
- Self-directed, accountable for results, and proactive; independent problem solver
- Ability to use logic and reasoning when investigating issues and determining a solution

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in organizational learning & development and leading learning & development initiatives
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required
- Knowledge of and experience with learning technology and tools such as Learning Management Systems
- Knowledge of and experience with learning and development methods
- Knowledge of and experience with organizational development and instructional design
- Experience designing, developing, and delivering employee training programs
- Experience facilitating in-person and virtual learning sessions
- Experience evaluating training effectiveness and analyzing performance
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Bilingual is a plus
Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. This role includes several in-person requirements for on site presence. A typical week will be approximately 40 hours with 8 hours daily 5 days per week Monday through Friday. At a minimum, a typical work day is expected to span core business hours of 9am to 3pm. Outside of those commitments, a flexible work schedule is available including working remotely some days out of the week. Overnight travel may be required to visit branch locations (about 5%).
