The
Director of Learning & Development is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training, development, and continuing education strategy across the organization. This individual will lead the design and execution of high-impact learning programs that enable
Behavioral Health Managers (Therapists),
Clinical Managers, and
corporate staff to perform at their best—ultimately driving improved patient outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
All learning and development initiatives will be aligned with our
Collaborative Care (CoCM) model, ensuring that therapists are empowered with the tools, competencies, and confidence to operate effectively within this evidence-based, integrated framework. The ideal candidate is a builder and strategic thinker who can translate complex clinical and organizational needs into impactful training programs, lead and develop a high-performing team, and establish partnerships that elevate our learning ecosystem.
This position is hybrid with three days a week working at our headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona and two days a week working remotely.
Compensation
- First-year compensation $115,000 - $145,000 annually (DOE)
- Annual bonuses driven by self-care, professional development, and individual KPIs
- $1,200 annual technology allowance
- 401(k) company match up to 3%

Generous PTO which includes 80 hours of vacation, 40 hours of sick leave, seven holidays, PLUS Winter Break (the last week of December). For those in the military reserves we offer 80 hours of paid military leave, and after one year of employment we offer 80 hours of Parental Leave for each birth/adoption.
Your Experience, Background, and Skills
Required:
- 8+ years in Learning & Development or Clinical Education, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience developing training programs within a healthcare, behavioral health, or clinical setting.
- Strong understanding of therapist licensure pathways, continuing education requirements, and clinical development.
- Proven ability to create and scale L&D infrastructure from the ground up.
- Track record of designing training programs that lead to measurable improvements in performance and patient outcomes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clinical and corporate stakeholders.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Psychology, or related field.
- Experience in a high-growth, multi-site healthcare or mental health organization.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms, instructional design methodologies, and adult learning principles.
- Clinical background or deep familiarity with Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) or integrated behavioral health models of care.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
- Develop and implement an organization-wide learning and development strategy tailored to a rapidly scaling mental health organization.
- Design a comprehensive curriculum for therapists, clinical managers, and corporate staff, incorporating continuing education, clinical competencies, leadership development, and compliance.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align learning initiatives with organizational goals and patient care outcomes.
- Create a structured roadmap for therapist development across various licensures, specialties, backgrounds, and experience levels.
Team Management & Infrastructure Building
- Evaluate and optimize the existing L&D team structure, capacity, and capabilities.
- Build and lead a high-performing team responsible for program design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Implement and/or optimize operational systems and infrastructure to support scalable learning delivery (e.g., LMS, feedback loops, performance tracking, and curriculum effectiveness).
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner closely with key stakeholders including the Chief Clinical Officers (evolvedMD & evolvedBH), VP of People, Clinical Directors, and Clinical Managers.
- Work cross-functionally to integrate learning into clinical workflows and performance management systems.
- Facilitate regular communication and reporting to stakeholders on program effectiveness, impact, and improvements.
Program Execution & Impact Measurement
- Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality, timely training initiatives across multiple functions.
- Ensure content is relevant, engaging, evidence-based, and aligned to CoCM-specific competencies and patient care outcomes.
- Implement robust evaluation tools to assess training impact on therapist effectiveness and patient outcomes.
External Engagement & Partnerships
- Establish partnerships with universities and clinical training programs to drive recruitment, speaking opportunities, and curriculum collaboration.
- Represent the organization at conferences, panels, and external events to promote thought leadership in behavioral health learning.
