Our utilities client has recently launched an internal learning function and is looking for an experienced Instructional Designer and Facilitator to support the development and delivery of a new virtual agility training program. This initiative will reach around 2,500 employees across Canada and the U.S. and is part of a broader effort to support enterprise-wide learning and agility.
To begin, the consultant will focus on refining and converting existing content for Module 1: "Getting Curious" into an interactive 60- to 90-minute virtual instructor-led training (VILT) session. The content currently exists in PowerPoint format and requires editing for clarity, tone, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and refine existing PowerPoint materials to make the content more accessible and relatable to several departments.
- Redesign the module for VILT delivery, incorporating interactivity using Microsoft Teams and tools like Mentimeter.
- Develop revised facilitator notes and supporting materials (e.g., workbooks or job aids if appropriate)
- Provide feedback and guidance on how many sessions will be needed (initial estimate is 10 to 15 sessions for ~100 people)
- Deliver virtual sessions using Microsoft Teams.
The client is taking an iterative approach, starting with this first module and planning for pilot sessions, feedback collection, and refinements before full rollout. There is potential for additional modules to be developed after this initial engagement.
Start Date: Mid-August
Duration: Through early September (content development); facilitation sessions estimated to begin in November
Hours: Consultant to provide an estimated range of hours
Location: Virtual; preferably based in Canada
Experience Required:
- Proven experience in Instructional Design, with a focus on virtual instructor-led training
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams and interactive tools such as Mentimeter
- Experience creating and delivering soft skills training
- Comfortable working independently and following a project schedule
- Confident facilitating virtual sessions using Microsoft Teams
- Able to provide recommendations
- Able to provide work samples during the interview process
NOTE: 100% Virtual Positions
Due to the nature of this virtual position, we anticipate a high number of responses from interested applicants. We may not be able to personally respond to your inquiry immediately but please know that your resume and email responses will be reviewed.
The selected contractor will work directly with the client to review existing training materials, redesign the content for virtual delivery, and potentially facilitate sessions. You must operate as an independent business entity and are responsible for managing your own taxes, insurance, and any related business expenses.
