Position Summary
UHN is implementing a Clinical Trial Management System (Edge), a web-based SaaS application to manage the design, planning, and monitoring of clinical research workflows and documentation.
The role of the Education Specialist plays a significant part in supporting and contributing to this transformation through the design and delivery of face-to-face or virtually delivered instructor-led training, eLearning, and training support, to all levels of staff using the Edge system.
The primary responsibilities of the Education Specialist are training needs analysis, design instructor-led and/or eLearning course content & support materials; employ project management methodology; collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, change management and communication teams to analyze, design, and implement education.
DUTIES
- Instructional Design
- Develop excellent working relationships and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with stakeholders and subject matter experts to support the design and maintenance of instructor-led or eLearning course content
- Utilize skills to design technical training courses for face-to-face or virtual instructor-led modality; includes design, development, prototyping, testing and maintenance of instructor-led classes
- Establish excellent working relationship with people from different areas of expertise with varying degrees of technical experience and skills.
- Successfully employ project management knowledge and expertise
- Possess advanced understanding of adult education principles and demonstrate efficient application of these principles in instructional design, development, and training delivery
- Utilize knowledge of adult learning principles and expertise to conduct comprehensive needs or gap analysis in conjunction with subject matter experts to determine user training requirements; and develop learning objectives and course outline(s)
- Demonstrate foundational knowledge of job functions and workflows of client groups.
- Actively participate in and contribute to problem-solving team discussions by providing creative recommendations in how to improve training programs
- eLearning Content Design
- Produce online learning content storyboards on time in accordance with established technical guidelines standards and instructional design
- Partner with Digital Education eLearning Specialist to design, develop, and configure quality SCORM compliant and HTML e-learning
- Utilize adult education principles skills to design and review content storyboards, Q/A prototypes, and maintain content
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs
- Regularly seek feedback from subject matter experts and users
- Identify and make appropriate changes to assigned training programs and materials as required based on participant, SME, peer feedback, evaluation results and observations
Qualifications
- At minimum, completion of a bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Health Informatics, Computer Science or related field, or recognized equivalent; required
- Minimum 2 years of working with enterprise-wide cloud-based learning technology platforms, required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a technical trainer/educator, required
- Sound knowledge of instructional design and project management (needs analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation), required
- Experience working with business applications such as MS Office 2016 suite, required
- CTP or CTDP certification from Institute for Performance & Learning, an asset
- Excellent listening, collaboration, oral and written communication skills, required
- Excellent customer service skills including demonstrated ability to work well with multiple and competing demands, required
- Excellent problem recognition and solving abilities, required
- Ability to achieve results independently as well as fully participate in a team environment, required
