Job description
Spirit Psychological is seeking an additional Learning Strategist/Tutor to complement our team. Working in conjunction with another Learning Strategist, you would be sharing our current caseload and incoming clients. If you are a person who possesses a personal ability to maintain a positive and calm energy in a busy, multi-age practice and who loves to learn and collaborate with others, the Spirit team environment is for you!
A key member of the Spirit team, you would be responsible for providing individual assessment, intervention and consultative services to our school-aged clients. Your professional judgement and knowledge will be valued here, alongside both informal and norm-referenced assessment tools (where applicable). You will develop clear and targeted individual intervention plans and execute them. Ongoing communication with parents/caregivers is essential as is the collaboration with school personnel as necessary/requested. Your strength in organization and multi-tasking, placed on a foundation of empathy for all persons and situations, are skills essential to this position.
In return, you will be provided with all needed assessment tools (including Key-Math, KTEA, and others), therapy items and space to work that you require in order to meet the needs of your clients. Currently, our clinic uses JumpMath as well as the SMARTS Program for executive functioning skills and coaching. Literacy programs are developed on a case-by-case basis utilizing the existing professional skill set of the Learning Strategist and collaboration with our Speech-Language Pathologists and Psychologists.
Training in (or interest in future training) the Orton-Gillingham Program is considered an asset.
Administrative Support, Work Location and Hours
Spirit uses a secure on-line platform for scheduling, billing, client document storage and on-line video sessions as needed (CPA-endorsed OwlPractice). You will also have access to an administrative assistant as needed to assist with client communication and billing.
You will have the flexibility to meet clients at public spaces, in home or on-line via our client platform (OwlPractice). At times, due to weather and/or at a client's request, you may choose to work from home using this secure, confidential platform. Generally, clients prefer tutoring outside school hours, during the evening and sometimes on the weekends.
As Spirit Psychological is a growing practice, we have many other members of the team who are part-time. We are open to those with full-time employment outside their work with us, especially those who bring with them a wealth of experience, expertise and wisdom concerning the student experience in today's schools.
