Responsibilities:
The Adult Learning Instructor is responsible for the delivery of programming as outlined in the Nova School of Adult Learning (NSSAL) funding agreement, following all NSSAL outlined curriculum and outcomes.
Skills and Competencies:
- Provide quality instructional experiences for learners using the NSSAL provided outcomes and curriculum;
- Deliver programs which respect learners’ unique identity;
- Conduct appropriate assessments to ensure learners are appropriately placed in programming;
- Monitor learners’ progress towards meeting their identified goals;
- Use interactive and participatory methods to empower participants to view themselves as active learners;
- Deliver programs using different learning and instructional modalities to optimize learning and meet learner needs;
- Maintain learner privacy and confidentiality and be respectful of a learner’s gender; cultural, ethnic or sexual identity, abilities and socio-economic status in both personal interactions as well as in the presentation of programming, at all times;
- Perform other duties as requested / assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Preference: Bachelor of Education or Post-Secondary degree with an Adult Education
Diploma / Designation or acceptable combination of education and experience;
- Experience working with adults with varied learning abilities;
- Good understanding of adult and inclusive education / learning principles;
- Ability to apply equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility approaches in instructional design and program delivery;
- Ability to motivate program participants to engage in learning opportunities;
- Ability to interact with people of all ages, cultural backgrounds and diverse life experience with sensitivity, compassion and patience;
- Excellent inter-personal skills and demonstrated success as a team player, innovative thinker and problem solver who is open to new challenges and to learning new things;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent teaching skills utilizing Adult Principles of Learning;
- Able to take initiative, adapt to changing situations and perform with minimal supervision.

Job Types: Part-time
Contract length: 6 months with possibility of permanent extension
Pay: $26.93 / hr - $31.52 / hour depending on experience.
