The Manager of IELCC Initiatives at Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO) will support the implementation and management of Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) programs, policies, and consultation processes related to IELCC funding agreements held by LFMO. As the national and international voice for Métis women, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people, LFMO advocates for the personal, cultural, social, political, and economic interests of the Métis Nation.
In this role, the Manager will provide critical support in the administration and management of IELCC projects, liaising with stakeholders, and assisting in the development of policies and proposals that align with LFMO’s strategic priorities for Early Childhood Education and Child Care. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, a background in ECEC, and experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government bodies and community partners. Additionally, the candidate must possess excellent group facilitation skills, with the ability to lead and guide discussions, workshops, and consultations, ensuring effective participation and productive outcomes. This is a remote position with occasional travel for conferences, policy forums, and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing all IELCC funding agreements held by LFMO, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with funding requirements.
Represent LFMO in national and regional IELCC discussions, working groups, and policy forums.
Support the delivery and reporting of IELCC program outcomes, ensuring that workplans and milestones are met in accordance with funder expectations.
Assist in the development of proposals and policy initiatives to address the needs and aspirations of Métis women in Early Childhood Education and Child Care.
Work closely with senior staff on stakeholder engagement and relationship-building efforts, particularly in areas related to IELCC.
Collaborate with LFMO staff on various projects, assisting with research, report development, and event coordination.
Take a leadership role in specific aspects of the IELCC portfolio, ensuring that assigned initiatives are progressing effectively.
Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation by proactively managing tasks, driving projects forward with minimal supervision, and meeting deadlines without constant oversight.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative or project management role, preferably in a related field, with exposure to policy analysis and community engagement.
A post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Public Policy, Social Work) or a combination of education and experience.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
Strong project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and ensure successful project outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports and correspondence.
Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with other relevant tools (e.g., Adobe Suite).
Strong understanding of Métis culture, identity, and history, as well as the challenges and aspirations of Métis women, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people.
Politically and culturally sensitive, with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex community and government relationships.
Ability to absorb new information and communicate it effectively to various audiences.
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and managing competing priorities effectively.
Strong self-motivation, with the ability to manage and complete projects with limited direction and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed and travel for work-related events.
