Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Instructional Designer with 10+ years of experience, specifically within the K-12 publishing domain, to join our team on a 9-month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, engaging, and effective instructional materials for K-12 education projects. This is a remote opportunity, offering flexibility in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop instructional content and curriculum for K-12 education, ensuring alignment with educational standards and learning objectives.
- Create engaging, interactive, and accessible learning experiences across various delivery formats, including eLearning modules, print, and multimedia-based resources.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, project managers, and editorial teams to ensure accuracy, relevance, and pedagogical soundness of materials.
- Conduct needs analysis and learner assessments to inform the development of instructional strategies.
- Apply best practices in instructional design and learning theories to create effective learning experiences.
- Review and edit for clarity.
- Ensure that all instructional content is aligned with the latest K-12 curriculum standards, assessments, and educational trends.
- Review and edit content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency, ensuring the final product meets the company’s quality standards.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and deadlines are met.
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to project stakeholders, offering recommendations for improvements based on feedback and learner performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in instructional design, with a strong focus on K-12 publishing or educational content development.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering instructional content for K-12 audiences, including both print and digital formats.
- Expertise in learning management systems (LMS), eLearning authoring tools (such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.), and multimedia design software.
- In-depth understanding of K-12 curriculum standards, learning theory, and instructional strategies.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and learner-centered content for diverse student populations.
- Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, editors, and developers.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining a high level of productivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with K-12 publishing companies or educational technology firms.
- Familiarity with Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and other K-12 educational frameworks.
- Experience in graphic design or multimedia development for educational content.
