Job Title: Director of Talent

The Role
The Director of Talent is responsible for leading and executing the firm's talent strategy, focusing on acquiring new talent at all levels and developing existing employees. This role will drive initiatives to attract and grow top talent, ensuring Propeller maintains a competitive edge and fulfills our promise of professional growth for Propeller consultants, leaders, and corporate team members alike.
Talent Acquisition
- Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract top consulting talent at all levels
- Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing to onboarding
- Monitor client demand metrics to guide near- and long-term recruiting priorities and tactics, including recruitment of expertise-based contract staff
- Analyze recruitment metrics, client demand, competitor insights, and market trends to optimize hiring processes and priorities
- Manage leadership role recruitment efforts:
- Partner with senior management to define leadership hiring needs
- Develop and execute tailored strategies for attracting high-level candidates
- Conduct confidential executive searches when required
- Manage relationships with executive search firms for key leadership positions
- Build and maintain relationships with key talent sources, including universities, professional networks, current Propeller contacts, Propeller alumni, and experienced professionals in the consulting industry
Talent Development
- Conduct regular data-driven skills gap and training needs assessments to guide the company's talent strategy
- Design and implement comprehensive learning and development programs for all levels of employees in support of company’s near- and long-term goals
- Define, track and monitor key program metrics that assess overall program effectiveness and return on investment
- Manage the company's coaching program, ensuring effective mentor-mentee relationships and skill development
- Design and facilitate new employee and manager onboarding, leadership development, and internship programs
Skills Management
- Maintain and evolve the company's skills architecture and database; partner with internal stakeholders to integrate skills data into relevant systems and processes
- Ensure accurate tracking and updating of employee skills and competencies
- Use skills data to inform talent acquisition and development strategies and priorities
Strategic Planning & Advisory
- Forecast talent needs and develop talent strategies that align with overall business objectives and growth plans
- Advise and partner with senior leaders on optimal strategies to meet talent needs through recruiting, contracting, or training
- Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on talent metrics and initiatives as well as insights to market and competitor trends
Team Management
- Lead and develop the Talent Acquisition and Development team
- Manage budgets and OKRs for recruitment, training, and development activities
- Leverage internal consulting expertise when necessary to further the function’s objectives

Must Have
- 10+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition and/or development, with at least 5 years in a management role
- Strong understanding of talent acquisition strategies, learning and development methodologies, and skills management practices
- Experience designing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in talent acquisition and development functions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strategic systems thinker with the ability to translate business needs into talent solutions
- Experience with implementing or managing human capital technology systems
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to travel domestically (up to 20%)
- Ability to demonstrate a legal right to work in the U.S.
Nice To Have
- Advanced education in a related field
- Experience in talent acquisition and/or development in the consulting industry
- Experience with Greenhouse, BambooHR and/or MS Suite
- Existing professional network in the consulting industry

The Specifics
Compensation: We believe in fairly and equitably compensating our employees for their time and experience. We do that by offering a competitive salary, uncapped bonus eligibility, an employee stock ownership program, and many other benefits. Individual salaries are based on a variety of factors, including years of experience and specific skill sets. The base compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000 plus a 5% - 10% bonus target, which is specific to the location for this job posting. Typically, individuals are not hired at the top of the range for their role; however, base pay ranges are reviewed and updated each year based on performance.
Location: We believe being physically present with each other and our clients strengthens our relationships, promotes creativity and innovation, and ultimately produces a stronger, more durable result for our clients and ourselves. Propeller employees work in a hybrid model, spending at least 2 days per week working from their local Propeller office. Applicants should currently live in Portland, or plan to relocate upon hire.
