Job Summary:
The Principal of our Ontario Private Virtual School will lead and manage all aspects of the school’s operations, ensuring the highest standards of educational delivery, student success, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Ontario’s education system, with a strong background in delivering the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) curriculum. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of virtual learning environments, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Administration:
- Oversee the daily operations of the virtual school, ensuring all activities align with the school’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
- Lead the development and implementation of educational programs that meet the OSSD requirements and adhere to Ontario Ministry of Education standards.
- Manage and support a team of educators and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Develop and maintain school policies, procedures, and protocols, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Educational Excellence:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and effective online education that meets the diverse needs of students.
- Oversee curriculum development, instructional practices, and assessment methods, ensuring alignment with OSSD standards.
- Monitor student progress, implement intervention strategies as needed, and support student success in achieving their academic goals.
- Promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning through professional development and the integration of innovative educational technologies.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents, and guardians, addressing concerns, providing guidance, and ensuring a positive educational experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the school community, including parents, staff, and external partners.
- Represent the school at external events, meetings, and conferences, advocating for the school's interests and maintaining its reputation in the broader educational community.
- Compliance & Accreditation:
- Ensure the school meets all accreditation requirements and maintains good standing with the Ontario Ministry of Education.
- Stay informed about changes in educational regulations and standards, and adjust school practices accordingly.
- Prepare and submit reports to the Board of Directors and relevant regulatory bodies as required.
- Financial & Resource Management:
- Oversee the school’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation.
- Identify opportunities for growth and development, including potential funding sources, partnerships, and program expansions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; a Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Ontario Principal’s Qualification Program (PQP) certification is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Ontario educational leadership role, with a strong understanding of the OSSD curriculum and virtual learning environments.
- Proven experience in managing school operations, staff, and budgets in an educational setting.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to educational equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Proficiency in educational technologies and online learning platforms.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be located in Ontario and have a deep understanding of the Ontario education system.
