Job Description
Role Purpose
The Apprentice Development Leader (ADL) is responsible for overseeing and supporting apprenticeship programs within the Rolls-Royce Nuclear Submarines account. The role ensures effective learner progress, compliance with apprenticeship standards, quality requirements, funding regulations, and stakeholder expectations. The ADL provides coaching, operational governance, and lead provider management while maintaining high levels of learner engagement and program performance.
Key Accountabilities
Apprentice Program Management
- Monitor and support apprentices throughout their program lifecycle.
- Conduct and participate in tripartite reviews with lead providers, ensuring reviews are completed in line with agreed schedules and individual learning plans.
- Support apprentices in achieving program objectives through a coaching-based approach
Stakeholder & Provider Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned lead providers.
- Manage operational issues and escalate risks appropriately.
- Build strong relationships with learners, providers, customer stakeholders, and internal teams.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to apprenticeship standards, funding requirements, EPA processes, and regulatory obligations.
- Manage operational governance activities, including quarterly governance board meetings.
- Maintain compliance with Equality, Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and Quality policies.
Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate learner records and apprenticeship data.
- Ensure reporting data is complete, accurate, and submitted within required timelines.
- Provide guidance and support regarding learner management and program performance
Coaching & Development
- Mentor apprentices to support successful completion of apprenticeship programs.
- Promote continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Participate in best practice sharing and standardization activities.
Operational Excellence
- Support the Head of Operations in delivering contractual service levels.
- Follow all operational policies, procedures, and processes.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and GP Strategies values.

- Apprentices successfully progress and complete program milestones.
- Positive outcomes from tripartite reviews and governance assessments.
- Accurate and compliant learner records and reporting.

Candidate Profile
Experience & Capability
- Experience managing apprentices, learners, or development programs.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a regulated environment.
- Strong administration, organization, and data management skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate learners.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Flexible and agile approach to work.
- Ability to travel as required.
Technical Strength
- Engineering apprenticeship, engineering qualification, or relevant occupational competence (other disciplines considered).
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Understanding of apprenticeship frameworks, learning programs, and learner review processes.
- Knowledge of compliance, quality assurance, and governance requirements.
- Ability to obtain necessary nuclear sector clearances and DBS checks.
