Position Summary
The Learning and Development Specialist provides training and development support for NFI Learning Institute with design, development of training programs/courses and business development needs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Consult with and support business units/departments and Human Resources to identify, plan and implement resource selection, training and development requirements as driven by the strategic performance needs of the organization
- Research, design, implement, and maintain standardized, comprehensive training and development programs and documentation based on identified organizational and affiliate needs, changes in culture, products, procedures, and services
- Present training to all levels within the organization or externally as required
- Negotiate training programs, sources materials and delivery methods
- Perform or support the efforts of others to design, develop and instruct curricula (classroom or on-the-job) utilizing instructional design techniques, including use of learning objectives, lesson plans, teaching aids and assessment materials
- Analyze performance measures to identify training opportunities and to assess the impact of training
- Analyze measures of performance (MOPs) relevant to the area of specialization, root cause and determine if relevant training interventions are necessary
- Assist in the development and implementation of applicable training effectiveness methods such as evaluation, validation, and cost benefit analysis to set and meet training performance goals
- Maintain a training inventory, schedule courses, develop course outlines, manuals, training aids and documentation in conjunction with curriculum designers
- Identify, develop, and monitor resources required to assist in the classroom and/or on-the-job training process
- Administer and maintain various contracts and programs from outside training service providers
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Post-secondary education in Management/Organizational Behavior, Adult Learning, Organizational Development or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a training role (identifying, designing, implementing training programs) with a focus on multi facility/organizational and operational development.
- Thorough subject knowledge of Manufacturing Practices
- Exceptional communication, presentation, planning and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality standards and administrative policies and procedures
- Previous experience providing training delivery in a unionized environment would be an asset
Up to 5% of travel is required for this position.
