Summary

The Director, Learning and Development leads a team dedicated to building the capabilities of the MGO team, improving our organizational effectiveness through creation and administration of learning and development programs.

This position is part of the People leadership team and drives a company-wide learning and organizational development strategy designed to enable a high-performance culture.

Essential Functions

  • Leading, driving and executing a learning and development program aligned with the MGO competencies by position and level, providing appropriate development to help employees (both in the US and with our international affiliates) forward on their career path.
  • Working with subject matter experts within our practices to take their expertise and design engaging and effective adult learning content.
  • Caretaking the library of MGO competencies and updating/revising as appropriate.
  • Delivering a best-in-class onboarding experience to welcome new team members to MGO.
  • Developing learning plans and career pathing for all levels and functions of the organization.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining all learning and development policies, standards, processes and tools while ensuring compliance with firm regulatory CPE and NASBA requirements.
  • Determining what content will be developed internally and what is best suited to procure from vendors or partners; evaluating and negotiating with learning & development providers, and managing vendor relationships/contracts.
  • Maintaining the library of self-paced courses to ensure content is correct and up to date with current rules, regulations, and technical approaches.
  • Create and manage the annual learning & development budget.
  • Build/develop a team of instructional designers, facilitators, and administrators to successfully execute on all priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of experience leading learning and development for a professional services firm, ideally a firm supporting the learning needs of CPAs and other tax, assurance, and accounting professionals.
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead a matrixed team and influence across an organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Emotionally intelligent; able to connect with and influence others.
  • A strong understanding of the public accounting industry and the learning and business needs of organizations within the industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative learning & development tools and technologies including LC Vista.
  • Depth of knowledge with adult learning/principles of instructional design; a track record of designing programs consistent with those principles.
  • Excellent executive presence and communication skills to collaborate with internal team members & executives.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving goals and priorities.
