About The Role

The London Borough of Hounslow and the Hounslow Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) are seeking to recruit a Training and Development Manager to join us on a permanent, full-time basis, working 36 hours per week.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a professional with significant experience and expertise in safeguarding children practice with an interest and ideally some experience in learning and professional development to join a forward-thinking organisation and shape how professional development and practice is undertaken throughout the Children’s Social Care Department and across our multi-agency partners in Hounslow.

The extensive level of skills and experience you’ll bring to this role will be key to the success of our Training Strategy and development plan, ensuring professionals can develop and improve outcomes for children and young people in our Borough. You will develop and implement a training programme that meets individual, departmental, and organisational learning needs, with a focus on key strategic safeguarding priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead the process of commissioning and coordinating the interagency safeguarding training programme for Hounslow Children’s Specialist Services and HSCP.
  • To work proactively with all agencies to ensure that learning needs across the Department are identified for all relevant staff, especially in areas of skills development and good practice, and address via appropriate training.
  • To take a key role in the evaluation of all safeguarding training whether commissioned or delivered by member agencies, to ensure that safeguarding training is of the highest quality possible and in line with Government Guidance.
  • To lead on the development of interagency collaborative practice, noting current developments in good practice, including those identified by research, local or national case review. This may be through specific project development and may include an annual HSCP conference.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

  • You will be working in Safeguarding & Quality Assurance under the Workforce Development Team, collaborating with Hounslow Safeguarding Partnership. The primary focus is on building the knowledge and skills of our workforce, leading to provision of safe and high-level interventions with children, young people, and families. About You

  • Ability to provide high quality, reflective, analytical, and evidence-based training to develop practice to the highest professional standards to achieve excellent outcomes with and for children, young people and their families.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional thinking and research skills in children’s safeguarding and care and to implement this across the service.
  • Ability to manage resources within budgetary constraints, securing best value and cost effectiveness.
  • Ability to analyse information from a range of quality assurance mechanisms including performance data and audits, producing reports of a high quality for HSCB and senior managers.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Social Work qualification: CQSW, DipSW, CCETSW approved equivalent, Social Work degree.
  • Social Worker England registration and good standing with the registering body.
  • Managerial experience.
