About the Role:

We are seeking a Director of People Operations; to own & implement programs and systems that scale and grow the employee experience at WNDR (headquartered in Chicago, IL). This is a hybrid role (4 days in office/week) and involves supervising all People operations across the current three units while helping plan for needs to grow the company into new cities.

This position reports to the CEO and will be responsible for strategic contribution and recommendations for the department as well as the day-to-day management of all People-related systems and processes. This role will have support from a soon to be hired office manager, who shares a portion of their schedule with the CEO and CXO.

While cross-functional experience in Talent Acquisition and Talent Development is desired in terms of experience for this role, ideally this person has a strong background and interest in Human Resources. There is on-going recruiting and professional development assistance needed (it is multifaceted and you would be leading all areas of People Ops) however the primary focus for this position is HR leadership: onboarding & training new employees and strengthening culture & employee relationships, as the business rapidly scales across multiple locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working in People Operations. PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Experience working with a PEO/Human Resources Information System (HRIS, e.g., Rippling), Applicant Tracking System (e.g., Greenhouse, and various People systems (e.g., performance management tools, company intranet/wiki, and anonymous feedback tools)
  • A deep knowledge of HR practices, including applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations is required
  • Experience implementing policies and procedures for both exempt and non-exempt employee populations is necessary
  • In-depth understanding of People best practices, with the ability to move seamlessly from strategy development to execution.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent communication skills, with executive presence and poise.
  • Hospitality/"Start-up" experience could definitely be beneficial

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an integral member of the WNDR Global team to advise on People Operations; including crafting job descriptions and assistance hiring, training and providing employee related attraction and retention strategies to leadership, managers and functional specialists
  • Lead the continual development of HR programs, including, but not limited to; compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and learning & development
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to implement a customer-focused mindset in building out People technology, processes, and operational capabilities across all WNDR locations.
  • Partner with leaders to shape how People Operations fits into WNDR’s overall business strategy and supports desired business outcomes as WNDR scales.
  • Continuous evaluation of the competitive landscape (market trends and data), to ensure WNDRs people programs remain competitive and efficient
