Learning and Development Graphic Designer
AMHSA is growing! The changing digital environment within the municipal sector requires increased focus on course development, instructional design, adult learning, and cross-cultural communication to support training and knowledge/skills transfer to our members.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Learning and Development Graphic Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating visually engaging and effective educational materials. You will collaborate closely with our instructional design team to translate complex concepts into visually appealing and easy-to-understand graphics. The ideal candidate is not only a creative designer but also someone who understands the principles of adult learning and instructional design.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILTIES:
Reporting to the Director of Learning and Assurance, the Learning and Development Graphic Designer will:
· Graphic Design for Learning Materials:
o Develop visually compelling graphics, illustrations, and infographics for e-learning courses, training materials, and presentations.
o Ensure that all designs align with instructional design principles and enhance the learning experience.
· Collaboration with Instructional Designers:
o Work closely with instructional designers to understand learning objectives and create graphics that support the content.
o Provide input on the layout and design of learning materials to optimize visual impact.
· Multimedia Development:
o Create multimedia elements, such as animations and videos, to enhance learning content.
o Collaborate with the multimedia team to integrate graphics seamlessly into various learning platforms.
· Brand Consistency:
o Maintain consistency in design elements across all learning materials, ensuring alignment with the company's brand guidelines.
· Support training compliance to the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training's (IACET)/ANSI 2018 Standard
· Stay current with industry trends and best practices
JOB TYPE / CATEGORY
Position to start as soon as possible, 15% travel may be required, AMHSA currently offers temporary remote work arrangements and/or flexible hours with a 35-hour work week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 3-years experience Graphic Design
· Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or a related field equivalent; combinations of education and experience will be considered.
· A proven ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities and work under the pressure of production deadlines/timelines.
· Demonstrated ability to transform technical content in to visually engaging and audience focused presentations.
· Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
· Portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects, with an emphasis on educational materials.
· Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with technical SMEs and internal team members.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:
· Experience in graphic design platforms (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, etc.)
· Competencies in iSpring, Handbrake, Captivate, Camtasia, etc. is an asset
· Knowledge/experience with the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training's (IACET)/ANSI 2018 Standard considered an asset
· Considered desirable is direct experience with BIS Training LMS
