At National Grid, safety, capability and operational excellence underpin everything we do. As our Technical Training function continues to evolve, we're looking for
2 xTechnical Training Process & Planning Specialists to play a pivotal role in ensuring our learning systems, training processes and data insights support a safe, skilled and future-ready workforce.
Reporting to the Technical Training Planning Manager, you'll be responsible for the governance, integrity and effective use of our learning systems, helping to deliver high-quality management information that enables informed decision-making across the business. You'll act as a key link between Technical Training, operational stakeholders and external training providers, driving continuous improvement and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
The role is hybrid with our base office in Eakring with an expectation to be in the office upto 3 times a week.
Please note you must have a full UK driving licence and live within an hours commutable distance of Eakring to be considered for the role.7
What you'll do
As a Technical Training Process & Planning Specialist, you'll be responsible for:
- Acting as the primary operational interface between Technical Training, Training Support Teams, Training & Competence teams and wider business stakeholders.
- Managing and continuously improving relationships with our Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring external training is delivered effectively, compliantly and in line with contractual requirements.
- Taking ownership of Learning Management System (LMS) processes, ensuring learner data and training records are accurate, compliant and maintained to a high standard.
- Leading LMS data quality activities, identifying trends, risks and opportunities that support business performance and informed decision-making.
- Producing, analysing and interpreting training and learning data, delivering meaningful insights that help shape future improvements.
- Supporting the development and implementation of robust processes, governance frameworks and best practice across Technical Training.
- Resolving complex LMS and Learning Portal issues, providing expert guidance and escalating where appropriate.
- Supporting LMS configuration and assignment profile management, ensuring consistency, accuracy and audit readiness.
- Contributing to the resilience of the wider team by supporting colleagues during periods of change, peak demand and business priorities.
- Championing a culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement in everything you do.
- Providing leadership and guidance to a small team, supporting their development and success.
What you'll need
We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with a passion for process improvement and stakeholder collaboration. You'll be naturally organised, customer-focused and comfortable working with data to drive meaningful outcomes.

- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Experience influencing stakeholders and driving positive change through collaboration and engagement.
- A strong focus on quality, continuous improvement and delivering excellent customer service.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and make sound decisions.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience interpreting complex data and translating findings into actionable insights.
- Experience presenting information and data in a clear, engaging and user-friendly way.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.
- Experience coaching, supporting or guiding others.
- Knowledge of quality management systems, governance processes or compliance frameworks.
It would be great if you also have;
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems, such as SAP SuccessFactors.
- Previous line management or people leadership experience.
- Experience working within a learning, training or capability environment.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between
£48,374 - £57,012.50 per annum – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
