Education Northwest is a nonprofit applied research, evaluation, and technical assistance organization based in Portland, Oregon. What You Will Be Doing
As a Leader in Equitable Learning and Systems Improvement, you will lead a strategic organizational business development portfolio and oversee a team affiliated with the portfolio. The leader will interface directly with funders and clients including school districts, state departments of education, and other organizations to develop and/or deliver training, coaching, instructional design, and related services that support equitable, evidence-based educational opportunities for multilingual learners—particularly English learners. The leader will oversee and provide quality assurance for written and eLearning products, presentations, and other client-facing materials. Core area(s) of expertise include, but are not limited to, overseeing and leading technical assistance and support; building and sustaining relationships with new clients, partners, and funders; developing tools, products, and resources to support educators and communities in implementing evidence-based policies and practices; and growing the organization’s national visibility and impact in the multilingual education field.

What You Should Have:
- Demonstrated expertise in leading technical assistance teams, including extensive knowledge of equitable education systems and the unique linguistic and cultural needs of English language learners and multilingual learners.
- Advanced coursework, endorsement, and classroom experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages (or equivalent endorsement) and/or bilingual or dual language education
- Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and communities and to recognize and respect unique cultural assets and knowledge.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills including the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, build and maintain relationships with community members, and develop and deliver effective presentations and reports.
- Experience planning and delivering effective professional development to educators and other professionals with a focus on cultural responsiveness, equity, inclusion, and multilingualism.
- A track record of producing and overseeing the production of highly actionable written reports, presentations, and other client-centered products.
- Strong project management skills and experience scoping and directing projects, including large, multi-year efforts.
- Demonstrated experience assisting diverse educational partners including schools and districts, state and federal agencies, postsecondary institutions and systems, policymakers, and community organizations in supporting and monitoring the implementation of evidence-based practices.
- An understanding of the educational policy and funding landscape including federal, state, and local agencies and philanthropic organizations.
- A deep commitment to racial and gender equity and a record of authentic partnerships and engagement with diverse communities
Desired Qualifications
- An advanced degree and ten or more years of experience working in a professional service setting
- Lived and/or professional experience working in culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse environments.
- Experience developing and leading culturally responsive and equitable technical assistance projects and services for English learners, and/or leading multilingual programs, in collaboration with clients and/or community partners.
- Knowledge of current trends in education related to multilingual learners with an emphasis on best practices and supports for English learners.
- A track record of successfully developing and leading research-practice partnerships.
- Bilingual—Spanish preferred
Other Things to Know:
- Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel
- Position can be based in Portland, Oregon, or from a home office anywhere in the United States
