Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in the Royal Navy's training modernisation programme, supporting instructors to deliver high-quality, engaging and effective learning. You'll provide expert guidance to help develop active, evidence-based teaching approaches, while championing inclusive, flexible and technology-enhanced training that meets the needs of all learners, including those with specific learning differences and neurodiverse needs.
This role is fixed-term until 31 March 2027 with a high likelihood of being made permanent Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week (Monday - Friday)
Hybrid - average if 50/50 between home and HMS Collingwood
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What you'll be doing
- Coaching Royal Navy trainers 1:1 and in small groups to plan clearer, more effective lessons
- Supporting trainers to move beyond slides and use active learning (discussion, scenarios, practical exercises)
- Helping build confidence so trainers feel comfortable trying new approaches
- Working with trainers and SMEs to improve lesson plans and curriculum content
- Clarifying key learning points so they are realistic, memorable and easy to apply
- Ensuring training is structured logically, balancing theory, practice and reflection
- Using observation, learner feedback and data to identify what's working and improve delivery
- Supporting trainers to use technology and inclusive approaches that improve engagement for all learners
What we're looking for
Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Background in Further or Higher Education, (post 16/Adult) ideally with experience in leadership roles
- Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above
- Strong digital literacy and confident use of IT tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively
- Proven ability to influence others and drive meaningful change
- A proven track record of effective engagement with stakeholders resulting in development and positive within teaching, learning and assessment
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge of the military
