Overview
Smythe LLP (Smythe) is seeking an experienced and collaborative Instructional Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing engaging learning solutions that support firm-wide systems, technology platforms, and evolving business processes. You will lead the creation of structured training programs, knowledge resources, and sustainment materials that drive adoption, strengthen knowledge transfer, and support organizational change across the firm.

The Opportunity
The Instructional Designer will lead the analysis, design, and development of engaging training programs that support platforms such as Dynamics, DPO, UKG, and other technical accounting or soft skills training. This role works closely with leadership, project teams, subject matter experts, and communications to ensure learning solutions are aligned with business processes and change objectives.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can operate independently, manage multiple initiatives, and build practical learning solutions that scale across the organization.
Your day-to-day
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and learning needs assessments to define role-specific outcomes and understand the impact of system and process changes
- Design and develop engaging learning solutions using adult learning principles, including e-learning modules, workshops, videos, job aids, onboarding pathways, and sustainment resources
- Convert accounting technical and soft skills training into e-learning using various platforms
- Integrate change-aware learning strategies by equipping leaders and teams with materials that reinforce adoption and align with broader communication efforts
- Establish and maintain an accessible knowledge repository, ensuring training materials remain current, embedded where appropriate, and structured to support future AI-enabled knowledge retrieval
- Measure training effectiveness through feedback and performance metrics, identifying gaps and continuously improving learning programs
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Human Performance, or a related field
- 3 to 5+ years of experience designing and developing learning solutions for adult learners
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE
- Experience with using different e-learning and LMS tools
- Experience developing e-learning content using modern authoring tools and working with learning management systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and prioritize multiple initiatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, self-managed approach with strong collaboration skills
- Experience supporting system implementations or digital transformation initiatives
- Experience in a professional services or corporate environment
- Exposure to knowledge management practices or AI-ready content structuring
