Learning & Development Specialist
Reporting Relationship: The Learning and Development Specialist will report directly to the Manager, Learning and Development.
Job Summary: The Learning and Development Specialist will lead in the design and deployment of programs. The L & D Specialist will deliver company-wide learning and development programs to Birchwood team members and leaders. This individual should be a natural relationship builder and encourage an environment of collaboration and personal and professional development.
What You Will Do
- Design and prototype user-centric learning journeys that prioritize ease of navigation, accessibility (WCAG), and visual engagement.
- Build complex, branched, and highly interactive e-learning modules using the Articulate 360 suite (Storyline and Rise), ensuring seamless integration with our LMS.
- Leverage AI-enhanced tools to streamline asset creation, such as voiceovers, image generation, and rapid prototyping.
- Apply adult learning methodologies when delivering instructor-led courses in the areas of personal and leadership development, onboarding, communication, etc.
- Facilitate hybrid and instructor-led sessions to test and validate UX design assumptions and gather real-time learner feedback for continuous improvement.
- Create continuous improvement plans to enhance existing programs.
- Research best practices and industry trends with respect to content and delivery methods.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify organizational needs and/or changes.
- Assess the needs of the participants before, during and after course deliveries.
- Apply principles of project management and user experience (UX) design to manage learning programs throughout their lifecycle (needs assessment, design, development, delivery, and maintenance).
Qualifications
- Completed post-secondary education in a related field, with a certificate in Adult Education would be preferred.
- A combination of education and experience would also be considered, in addition, a CPHR designation is considered an asset.
- Experience with Articulate 360, Canva and video editing tools (Vyond, ClipChamp, CreatePro, etc.) or equivalent tools.
- Experience utilizing AI-enhanced workflows for learning and development.
- A natural problem-solver who approaches learning challenges with a 'human-centered' design mindset, seeking constant feedback to iterate and improve the team member experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in change and project management and user experience principles and practices, or equivalent areas.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to determine guest needs, an understanding of customer service principles and a passion for delivering exceptional guest service.
- Strong and well developed communication skills (oral and written).
- Outstanding facilitation and presentation skills are required with interpersonal skills to build relationships.
- Proven attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Motivated individual with proven initiative.
- Valid 5F drivers license and own transportation to and from work is required.
- Experience in the automotive, retail and/or hospitality industry preferred.
