AVP, Learning & Development
The AVP, Learning & Development position reports to the VP, Human Resources and is responsible for leading and further enhancing Butterfield Group Talent Programmes. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization, this role will coordinate the annual Talent Programmes, monitor programme effectiveness, ensure progression of talent plans and skill development, and report on programme KPIs throughout the year.
This role focuses on nurturing employee potential, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and creating pathways for career advancement. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for developing people and driving organizational success.
Your responsibilities will include:
Talent Programmes
- Coordinating and managing talent programmes, ensuring they are consistently deployed across the organization, with the key objective of developing future talent to meet the business’s short and long-term talent needs.
- Coordinating the Promotion cycle programme in partnership with HR leadership and in consultation with business leaders while ensuring KPIs are and effectively monitored and reported
- Partnering with local HR teams throughout the annual scholarship and graduate programmes, with the goal of aligning candidates to future Group talent initiatives.
- Cross-training members of the Group HR team to deliver training courses and programmes locally and across jurisdictions to further support the development of internal talent.
Performance & Impact Measurement
- Identifying, creating and managing online courses in the online learning platform while identifying training programme channels and learning journeys for members of the talent programme.
- Creating and maintaining a dashboard for all talent programme KPIs and reporting quarterly to the Group HR team with analysis, insights, and programme observations and recommendations.
- Preparing and presenting ad hoc reporting on various elements of the talent programmes ensuring they are meeting set objectives and KPIs
Stakeholder Engagement
- In collaboration with HR VPs and business stakeholders across the Group, coordinating a talent development programme and identifying priorities for development and succession planning
- Working closely with managers across the Group to better understand and define development goals, training, skill needs and succession plans for those identified
- Supporting leadership in developing formal talent plans for members of the programme, ensuring that 100% of those identified has a formal and actionable plan with access to resources and training to support development.
- Mentor and support leaders on how to further progress talent development for individuals and offer career progression conversations
Your qualifications and skills include:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Adult Education, or Business Administration combined with at least 5 years of previous experience in Human Resources, training, learning and talent development.
- Specific experience in managing talent programmes is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes while ensuring milestones and deadlines are consistently met.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences; adept at building relationships across all functions and levels of the organization.
- Skill of establishing and effectively managing strong working relationships with key business stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively multi-task and prioritize.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate programme KPIs, with the results effectively reported and presented with clarity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to measure programme outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
- Proven experience with the development of talent initiatives with clear objectives.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information, with a strong commitment to data privacy and security.
- Proficiency in independent work, while drawing on resources and support as needed to ensure objectives are met.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.
