MAIN PURPOSE
The Learning and Development Manager is required to lead the design, implementation, and management of learning initiatives that drive employee growth and organisational performance. The role includes the end-to-end management of skills development initiatives, SETA submissions, and learning programs that align to building a future-fit workforce. The role drives a culture of continuous learning across the organisation while optimising learning processes, systems, and delivery. The Learning and Development Manager also leads and develops Learning Facilitators to ensure high-quality delivery of learning interventions aligned to organisational capability needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning & Development Strategy
- Implementation of the L&D strategy in alignment with business needs and People & Culture objectives.
- Identify current and future learning needs through skills gap analyses. • Champion a learning culture across all levels of the enterprise.
- Ensure alignment between the learning strategy and facilitator-led learning delivery
Learning Delivery & Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the Learning Facilitator team to ensure effective delivery of learning programs.
- Manage facilitator scheduling, training calendars, and resource planning
- Coach facilitators to strengthen delivery capability and learner engagement.
- Monitor facilitation quality through feedback, observation, and evaluation metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement in learning delivery and facilitation practices.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure L&D policy alignment across all aspects of people development
- Compile and submit the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR)
- Act as the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) and manage SETA engagements.
- Ensure alignment with BBBEE scorecard requirements for Skills Development.
Operational Management
- Ensure efficient learning delivery processes, administration, and facilitator operations.
- Manage the enterprise learning calendar and training logistics
- Maintain accurate training records and submit required regulatory reports
Learning Programs
- Design and implement learning programs across key pillars including Foundational, Early Careers, Self-Directed, and technical learning.
- Manage Early Careers initiatives including learnerships, internships, and graduate programs.
- Manage external training providers and ensure quality delivery
- Oversee facilitator-led learning delivery to ensure alignment between design and outcomes
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track learning effectiveness using defined KPIs and learning analytics.
- Report on learning progress and recommend improvements.
- Oversee LMS administration, learning enrolments, and reporting
- Monitor L&D spend and ensure alignment with strategy and BBBEE requirements
- Evaluate facilitation effectiveness and implement improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with People and Culture Business Partners to support development plans
- Engage with SETAs, training providers, and other external partners
- Collaborate with business leaders to ensure learning initiatives support capability development.
- Promote continuous professional development across the organisation
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or post-graduate diploma in related qualification
- 7+ years’ experience in L&D or People Development function
- 5years' people management experience
- Financial Services experience in contact centre (preferred)
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong understanding of Skills Development legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience managing learnerships and development programs
- Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles
- Proficiency in MS Office, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and reporting tools
- Data-driven approach to learning needs analysis and reporting
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills'
- Team leadership and performance management capability
- Coaching and mentoring skills for facilitator development.
- Learning delivery management and facilitation quality assurance
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
