The Role
The Managing Director, Education & Delivery is responsible for leading the strategic vision, integration, and excellence of USTA Coaching’s educational ecosystem — including curriculum design, certification frameworks, content strategy, learning management systems, and nationwide education delivery. This leader ensures that all educational programs and certification pathways are cohesive, accessible, and aligned with USTA Coaching’s philosophy, the American Development Model (ADM), and strategic priorities to grow a new generation of skilled, inspired tennis coaches.
Strategic Leadership & Department Oversight
- Lead and integrate the work of all USTA Coaching education units — including Curriculum, Certification, Operations, Continuing Education, and LMS.
- Develop and execute a long-term education development strategy focused on accessibility, quality, and sustainability.
- Oversee the design and execution of USTA Coaching Certification Pathways, ensuring they are industry-leading, progressive, and inclusive.
- Establish clear performance metrics, accountability standards, and annual goals for all education divisions.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the USTA Coaching Executive Team, aligning education priorities with organizational strategy.
- Establish partnerships with external domestic and international coach educators; build relationships with other National Governing Bodies and sports associations to share and leverage best practices with the goal of making tennis coaching education and services in the U.S. a global standard.
Education Delivery & Implementation
- Oversee all USTA Coaching Education Centers, ensuring quality, consistency, and operational excellence.
- Lead the continued development and delivery of the Coach Developer Academy, ensuring high-caliber training, mentorship, and certification of Coach Developers.
- Direct the national workshop delivery system, overseeing logistics, curriculum quality, and participant experience.
Curriculum & Certification Leadership
- Oversee the Director of Curriculum Development & Certification in building innovative, research-based learning pathways.
- Ensure that curricula and assessments are aligned with USTA Coaching’s philosophy and the American Development Model (ADM).
- Lead national education and certification strategy — defining standards, qualifications, and designations across all levels of coaching.
- Drive ongoing program improvement through data, evaluation, and learner feedback.
Content, Technology & Learning Innovation
- Oversee all online learning programs, blended models, and integration of digital and in-person learning experiences.
- Ensure the Coach Resource Center and related content platforms are consistently updated, accessible, and aligned with USTA Coaching’s philosophy.
Operational Excellence & Collaboration
- Lead the Director of Education Operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in education delivery logistics.
- Build processes that streamline collaboration among Education, Brand, Marketing, and Operations teams.
- Ensure alignment between national education content rollouts and marketing or promotional campaigns.
Leadership & Representation
- Serve as the public voice of USTA Coaching Education, representing the department at conferences, summits, and key national events.
- Build and nurture partnerships with professional teaching associations, academic institutions, and industry bodies.
- Foster a high-performing team culture that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or Organizational Leadership preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in education development, certification, or professional learning — ideally in sports, higher education, or nonprofit sectors.
- Demonstrated success overseeing large-scale educational systems or certification programs.
- Proven experience managing multi-unit teams and complex operations.
- Expertise in curriculum design, instructional delivery, and learning technologies.
- Strong strategic planning, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Deep understanding of coach development, adult learning principles, and the tennis ecosystem

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $170,000 - $215,000 plus a potential ICP bonus of up to 15%. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
