Job Purpose
The Strategic Learning Specialist provides academic success programs to the Gonzaga Community. These programs increase students' level of academic success by supporting effective academic skills and techniques through collaborative programs of academic support and education.
Essential Functions
- 60% - Program Coordination
- Use a variety of methods to identify areas of student need and the most effective and appropriate means of delivering academic support.
- Support and coordination of all LSM sponsored academic programs.
- Provide students direction in effective use of academic strategies.
- Help students develop understanding of effective learning strategies through a variety of approaches.
- Make appropriate referrals and work closely with other offices when necessary.
- Create and deliver training and information regarding successful college learning strategy techniques and methods to faculty and staff on campus.
- Supervise LSM student employees by creating and providing relevant training opportunities and consistent feedback to build their peer-to-peer academic support abilities.
- Support other peer-to-peer student groups by creating and providing relevant training opportunities that align with LSM programs to build their consistency across campus-wide peer-to-peer academic supports.
- Create, develop, and deliver programming for the greater campus community to include workshops, presentations, and custom-tailored lessons for staff, faculty and students.
- Manage the marketing and communication on current programs and opportunities to the campus community.
- 20% - Data Management
- Maintain detailed records and track data to maintain program requirements for program effectiveness and certification.
- Use technology to maintain student notes, generate program reports and access data.
- Track and monitor student employees' performance and trainings.
- Prepare regular reports for programs and makes suggestions for improvement.
- 10% - Center for Student Academic Success Programs
- Assist CSAS staff in program coordination and delivery.
- Support faculty and staff in coordinating general student support for academic success.
