We’re excited to be recruiting a dynamic and motivated Leadership Development Manager to join our Talent Development Team at The University of Manchester.
About The Role
The Leadership Development Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the provision and delivery of comprehensive management and leadership development programmes and development solutions, for all levels of management and leadership in the University. This role leads a team in the provision of in-person workshops and programmes, and online resources and support for all levels of management and leadership, from aspiring managers to senior and executive leaders. The role will work alongside academic, scholarly and research development leads, as well as IT and Compliance and Risk functions, to plan and organise the development offer, organising the training delivery plan, and ensure that colleagues are able to access relevant and accessible development offerings. The role is responsible for implementing evaluation tools and techniques to measure and maximise the impact of the learning solutions, to continuously improve content and delivery methods. This is a hybrid role, with the opportunity to work remotely 1-2 days per week, dependent on organisational need.
Essential skills:
- Level 7 Qualification in Learning and Development or equivalent.
- Experience with various leadership development tools and techniques, such as 360-degree feedback and personality assessments (e.g., MBTI, EQi, DISC), with a leadership development programme or suite.
- Proven experience in managing and maintaining an organisation-wide development suite and high-volume delivery plan of management and leadership development solutions.
- Proven track record and evidence of designing and delivering successful leadership development programmes, based on andragogical and heutagogical learning principles.
- People management skills to lead, manage, motivate and develop multi-disciplinary learning and development teams and to set and monitor performance.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work with a range of colleagues from multiple disciplines.
- Proven expertise in implementing evaluation tools and techniques to measure and maximise the impact of learning solutions, including Kirkpatrick Levels 1-4 and ROI analysis.
- Extensive experience of managing, evaluating and developing team capability in the delivery of development solutions, including conducting peer reviews, training audits and evaluating the impact of training.
- Experience in contracting and managing external training providers to ensure a full breadth of leadership development offerings, whilst demonstrating value for money and budgetary compliance.
- Ability to align leadership development programmes with organisational goals, including sustainability, equality, inclusion, and service excellence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Chartered Member of CIPD or equivalent experience.
- Level 5 qualification in Business and Personal Coaching or equivalent
- BPS Level A & B Qualifications
- Experience with e-learning platforms and virtual training delivery methods.
- Experience of leading the provision of management and leadership development in Higher Education sector.
