Workplace Mental Health and Learning Consultant.
Reporting to the
Senior Manager, Organizational Development, Workplace Mental Health and Volunteer Resources, you will consult externally, working with organizations to understand their challenges, needs, and goals. You will design and deliver evidence-based mental health strategies, training solutions, and development of CAMH specific initiatives that support organizational goals, reduce stigma around mental illness and addiction, and promote positive mental wellbeing in the workplace.
Your role will involve a combination of consulting on external mental health strategies, leading internal mental health and wellness organizational development initiatives, and delivering learning solutions at all levels of staff and leadership, both internally at CAMH and externally with partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Workplace Mental Health and Consulting
- Engage external organizations in development of a mental health strategy and strategic planning
- Design, develop, and implement internal mental health initiatives that promote wellbeing, reduce workplace stigma, and ensure psychological safety across all levels of the organization.
- Conduct needs assessments, data review and focus groups in collaboration with stakeholders to design, deliver, and evaluate mental health initiatives, ensuring they meet the unique needs of both internal and external clients.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (at CAMH) and external partners to align mental health strategies with broader organizational goals, ensuring a comprehensive and unified approach to wellbeing and development that also embeds inclusion, diversity, and accessibility for equitable outcomes.
- Support strategic initiatives that aim to improve organizational culture, enhance leadership effectiveness, and promote mental health awareness at all levels.
- Regularly assess organizational needs, identifying key trends and areas for improvement in both mental health and learning/development initiatives.
- Draft reports and presentations on key findings, recommendations, and project progress, ensuring leadership teams are kept up-to-date.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external consultants, organizations, and stakeholders, staying current on best practices in workplace mental health and learning development.
Learning & Organizational Development
- Consult with external organizations to understand key issues that they are experiencing, and develop formal proposals for training solutions
- Conduct needs assessments and develop training strategies and solutions to address key needs
- Design, develop and deliver training to external organizations as required
- Develop metrics, monitor the effectiveness of training solutions and recommend improvements or other interventions as required
- Design, develop and deliver learning and development for CAMH leaders and staff using multiple modalities, and reflecting Adult Learning Principles and best practices that incorporates inclusion, diversity, and accessibility for equitable outcomes
- Develop, implement and monitor communications that keep staff informed and engaged in learning opportunities and enable channels of feedback, exchange of ideas, and collaboration
- Provide expertise in collaborating with business partners to develop training initiatives that promote transformation of CAMH to a culture of excellence in development and performance
- Report regularly on project progress and identify areas for improvement
- Maintain external linkages to access information about best practices in learning and organizational development
- Some travel may be required
Job Requirements
Your profile as a
Workplace Mental Health and Learning Consultant includes the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred in a relevant field (Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Organizational Development, or related disciplines)
- Five years of progressive experience in Learning and Development or Organizational Development, with a focus on workplace mental health, learning strategy, and culture change
- Independent or External Consulting experience in mental health strategy development, organizational development, and/or learning initiatives
- Experience designing and delivering training solutions that support mental health, organizational development, and leadership excellence across diverse business environments
- Demonstrated expertise in working with external partners, understanding their needs, and developing customized proposals and strategies to address mental health and organizational challenges
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to adjust strategies based on the unique needs of various organizations
- Knowledge of mental health frameworks, workplace legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act), and the latest research on psychological safety and mental wellbeing in the workplace
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with diverse teams, stakeholders, and external partners to collaboratively develop and implement successful mental health and learning solutions
- Superior communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups of participants
- Certification in Psychological Safety/Workplace Mental Health or similar qualifications is an asset
- Experience in healthcare or hospital environments is a plus, particularly with mental health strategy development and training delivery
Additional Requirements
- Some travel may be required for external consulting engagements
