Senior Learning & Development Specialist

Our client, a rapidly growing Irish business with international operations, has partnered exclusively with Re:work to hire a Senior Learning & Development Specialist (Permanent). This is a hands-on, individual contributor role reporting directly to the HR Director, focused on establishing the organisation's first structured L&D function and driving a culture of learning across a dynamic, scaling business.
Role Summary
In this role you'll have an opportunity to establish and create the organisation's L&D function from scratch. Working directly with the HR Director, you'll design and implement the learning strategy, training frameworks and development pathways that will shape how this fast-growing business builds capability and culture. About the Company & L&D Function
Our client is an established commercial contractor experiencing significant growth. Operating across Ireland and internationally, they deliver complex projects for global and national clients in sectors requiring precision, compliance and technical expertise.
The L&D function is entering an exciting phase of development under the leadership of the HR Director. The focus is on building structure, consistency and capability across all areas of learning and development, moving from ad hoc, fragmented training to a coordinated, strategic approach. It is a collaborative environment where new ideas are encouraged, and where L&D plays a central role in shaping how the organisation develops its people, builds capability and evolves as it scales.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct a comprehensive training needs analysis across all departments and job levels to identify skills gaps and development priorities
- Design and implement training frameworks and structured development pathways that support both immediate business needs and long-term capability building
- Develop and coordinate standardised onboarding and induction programmes, ensuring consistency of experience for all new joiners
- Partner with department heads, project managers, technical leads and subject matter experts to identify training requirements and co-design learning solutions
- Establish and manage the graduate and early-career development programme, creating clear progression pathways and support structures
- Create role profiles, competency frameworks and career ladders, working closely with the HR Business Partner on organisational design
- Introduce learning metrics, reporting and tracking mechanisms that demonstrate the impact of L&D investments
- Support the selection and implementation of a Learning Management System, acting as a key stakeholder and user advisor
- Lead projects that bring structure, consistency and governance to L&D across multiple departments and geographies
- Work collaboratively with the HR Director and broader HR team to embed a learning culture and drive continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years' demonstrable experience in Learning & Development, Training Design or Talent Development, ideally within a multi-site or scaling environment
- Strong expertise in training needs analysis and ability to translate business challenges into structured learning solutions
- Experience in fast paced multi-site industry such as facilities, manufacturing, facilities, construction, engineering, FMCG, retail etc
- Confident stakeholder management skills, able to build credibility with operational teams, technical experts and senior leaders
- Pragmatic and adaptable, comfortable working in environments where formal structures are still being established
Desirable
- Experience designing health, safety and compliance training programmes
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems or e-learning design
- Professional qualifications in L&D (CIPD, Train-the-Trainer or similar)
- Experience with accredited training, apprenticeships or graduate development programmes
- Knowledge of talent mapping, succession planning and organisational design

How They Work
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week onsite in Dublin West and two days working from home. You'll work as part of a collaborative HR team and have direct access to the HR Director. The leadership team is open, supportive and genuinely invested in building a stronger learning culture-you'll get visibility at board level and have real influence over how the organisation develops.
