As the Learning & Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an environment where our people can thrive and excel. Leading the day-to-day operations of the L&D (Learning and Development) function, you will manage and support a dedicated team of two. What You'll Be Doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead improvements in L&D operations, including quality control and data analysis for training evaluation.
- Manage a two-person team, supporting their performance and development; oversee workload and project delivery.
- Build relationships with service heads to assess learning needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Continuously enhance staff onboarding to ensure consistency and positive experiences.
- Regular travel to our three offices to support with L&D delivery, expenses for travel is covered to non-base offices.
Operationalise L&D:
- Ensure smooth execution and effective evaluation of learning initiatives that meet internal client needs.
- Oversee creation and deployment of varied solutions (self-learning tools, digital content, etc.).
- Plan L&D activities aligned with organisational targets and events; review and improve induction/onboarding in collaboration with HR.
- Maintain BG's competency framework and develop L&D programmes for all entry pathways.
- Collaborate with colleagues to source external training and fully utilise digital platforms.
- Support peer learning, coordinate CPD/core sessions, and liaise with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) on software subscriptions.
- Use your team to help organise work experience placements and manage relationships with external providers (apprenticeships, universities, colleges).
- Maintain the LMS (Learning Management System) with the Digital Learning Designer and support career progression with senior leaders.
- Develop a knowledge portal and promote L&D opportunities internally.
Learning and Impact:
- Evaluate L&D programmes with the Head of L&D and report attendance/effectiveness to management.
- Focus on increasing attendance to training sessions and measure return on investment.
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a recognised Learning & Development qualification
Have exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
Be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
Have a minimum 3 years' experience in L&D, including line management responsibilities
Be proactive and self-motivated
Have experience with the Microsoft suite
Knowledge of L&D software (e.g. Kallidus) would be advantageous
