About The Role
Are you passionate about transforming enterprise learning and driving digital innovation? UCB is seeking a visionary Head of Digital Learning to define and lead our global digital learning strategy.
In this pivotal role, you will build a scalable learning ecosystem that accelerates skill acquisition, internal mobility, leadership readiness, and workforce productivity, enabling UCB’s Talent Roadmap and Digital Transformation.
You will ensure compliance and risk management in partnership with Quality, Legal, Privacy, and Security, governing regulated learning in GxP contexts and safeguarding data privacy under GDPR and similar regulations.
Who You’ll Work With
You will act as a trusted advisor to business leadership, HR Business Partners, Talent Management, and IT. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across HR, IT, Quality, Compliance, and Business Units, and build a partner ecosystem of platform providers, content vendors, universities, and niche specialists.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute a 3-year digital learning strategy with clear value cases, investment plans, and outcome targets.
- Lead an enterprise learning governance forum to set standards, approve roadmaps, and remove obstacles.
- Launch enterprise academies for priority capabilities (digital, leadership, functional, patient/customer engagement) with curated pathways, credentials, and communities of practice.
- Build a content operations model blending internal creation, expert curation, and licensed content, optimizing findability and reuse.
- Promote evidence-based learning design (micro-learning, spaced practice, simulations, coaching, performance support) accessible on any device.
- Deploy AI responsibly to accelerate content generation, translation, and Q&A assistants, with guardrails for accuracy, bias mitigation, privacy, and IP protection.
- Define and implement a robust measurement framework linking engagement, proficiency progression, role readiness, mobility, quality improvement, and business outcomes.
- Build and manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts and SLAs, and rationalize the portfolio for value and experience.
- Explore external partnerships and credentials to recognize skills with market value (micro-credentials, badges).
I nterested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Learning Sciences, Instructional Design, Education Technology, Organizational Psychology, Business, Data Science, or related field.
- 10+ years leading enterprise learning or digital product functions.
- 5+ years managing multi-country teams and complex vendor ecosystems; proven experience architecting and scaling modern learning platforms (LMS, LXP, content/skills graphs) with HRIS and collaboration integrations; demonstrated success launching academies or capability programs.
- hands-on use of AI in the learning value chain.
- Ability to connect enterprise strategy to platform, data, and experience choices, with a clear value narrative.
- Product and portfolio management: Skilled in prioritizing outcomes and managing backlogs, releases, and stakeholder expectations.
- Interprets insights and guides evidence-based decisions; able to coach teams on metrics that matter.
- Change leadership, influence, and coaches’ leaders and managers to be multipliers of learning.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Operates effectively with HR, IT, Quality, Compliance, and business units; resolves trade-offs constructively.
- Learning design literacy: Champions evidence-based practices and accessibility; sets high quality standards for content and experience.
- Vendor and budget management: Negotiates effectively and optimizes total cost of ownership and value delivered.
