Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the functioning of Goodwill Industries of San Diego County’s (GISD) learning and development program. Facilitates workshops, including the Career Steps Pathway program, that create an environment for adult learners to understand and apply concepts to be prepared for supervisory positions. Coaches, trains, and supports Learning and Development Instructors to ensure that they are facilitating workshops according to organizational standards. Assesses the needs of the organization and coordinates with other Departments and the Director of Workforce Development to design and develop training opportunities to strengthen the learning and development program.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Responsible for the implementation and execution of the learning and development program, including Onboarding, Career Pathway Steps, and other specialized training.
- Coach, train, and support Learning and Development Instructors to ensure quality curriculum, instruction and that each participant has an enjoyable, productive, challenging and meaningful experience.
- Ensure that course instruction is tailored to Adult Learners and can be taught in a vocational training environment so that ambassadors and job seekers can apply the content of the training to their job situation.
- Assess and analyze the training needs of ambassadors to recommend additions to the learning and development program.
- Design and develop courses that will meet the ongoing training needs of the organization and develop the skills talent and potential of our ambassadors.
- Coordinate with other departments and the Director of Workforce Development to design, coordinate, and implement organizational training.
- Work in collaboration with Community Employment Manager to ensure workshops offered through Community Employment Centers provide quality curriculum and instruction according to organizational expectations.
- Review and monitor course evaluations to ensure quality courses and instruction. Make recommendations to Director of Workforce Development if changes are needed to ensure the effectiveness of the learning and development program.
- Work in collaboration with the Workforce Development Coordinator to schedule and promote the Learning and Development workshops and calendar to the organization.
- Ensure that the Learning and Development team provides excellent customer service to our ambassadors before, during and after each training
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development through opportunities like membership in training organizations, taking classes, and/or pursuing certificates in trainings to increase skill in facilitation and course instruction
- Participate in department meetings as scheduled.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: GED or High School education required; AA degree, Certification in related field or combination of education and experience in related field equally 2 year degree required; BA or BS preferred
Experience: Require advanced job knowledge, education, and minimum 5 years of experience in related field upon hire or 5 years of GISD experience in level 5 or 6 position, or combination of past experience and GISD experience equally 5 years.
Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills, MS Office, MS Project, email, internet
Certificates and Licenses: Must have a valid CA driver’s license, proof of insurance and driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s insurance company.
