With the goal of maintaining and increasing student retention, this position is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the smooth delivery of all customer service operations for International Student Services and Global Learning Centre. Excellent customer service is essential where student needs take precedence. Reporting directly to the Manager, Student Services and Global Learning Centre this position is responsible for assisting the Manager, and Life skills advisors as well as other employees in the office.
What You’ll Do:
- This incumbent will be responsible for all the administrative and secretarial support for the department;
- This incumbent will be responsible for reconciling the budget of Student Services and Global Learning Centre FOAPAL’s, processing payments for invoices and student club sponsorships, and maintain records for all other financial activities within the department;
- The incumbent will be responsible for entering information into Banner, generating and analyzing information from Caspur Report, creating spreadsheets, and other daily tasks;
- The incumbent will train and supervise student assistants within the department;
- The incumbent will be responsible for filing documents of all the students served, monitor phone and email inquiries in a timely manner, manage office supplies;
- This position is responsible for being the front-line contact with International Students at the U of R;
- Updates website – to ensure that students have the latest information about our office;
- Coordinates logistics for sessions, meetings, events – to ensure that all sessions, etc are organized and running smoothly;
- Communicates with all university staff – to ensure that our office maintains good relations with whole university community.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- Grade 12, supplemented by the successful completion of a recognized business course;
- Minimum of two years’ related experience, preferably within a university environment;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
- General office administration knowledge;
- Knowledge of immigration and education policies, laws, and regulations for international students in Canada.
- Knowledge of account reconciliation and financial fundamentals;
- Knowledge of University programs, services, policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of website and social media management;
- Knowledge of University systems such as Banner, Caspur, and URDocs is a strong asset;
- Basic knowledge of project management and event planning;
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with multiple and diverse cultures;
- Demonstrated ability to make sound judgement decisions based on the interpretation of generic policies within a certain context;
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials and reports;
- International experience beyond personal travel (i.e. experience studying, working, and/or living abroad);
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and other international language;
- Superior customer service skills;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Decision making skills – ability to make effective administrative decisions with sound judgment;

- Ability to effectively train and supervise others in technical procedures, techniques, and job-related skills.
Physical Demands Pay Grade CUPE Phase 4 Salary Range $44,262.40 - $59,768.80 Annually (Operational Services) Status Term Work Hours
Monday to Friday: 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
In addition:
Work outside regular hours, evenings and weekends may be required. Work from home not an option.
Travel within Canada and abroad may be required
