Job Description

Role PurposeThe Senior Instructional Designer provides vision, leadership, and coordination in designing, developing, and delivering accredited and non-accredited blended learning programmes. The role ensures compliance with SETA and QCTO requirements while creating innovative, high-impact learning experiences that support Ucademy’s clients and learners in the BPO and wider corporate sectors.The Senior Instructional Designer builds scalable, future-ready programmes that combine e-learning, classroom, and workplace-based learning, while continuously evaluating and improving their impact.Essential RequirementsQualifications- Bachelor’s Degree or 3-year Diploma in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Design, Industrial Psychology, or related field.- Postgraduate qualification in Education and or Learning Sciences advantageous.- Accreditation or certification in e-learning platforms (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate) beneficial.Experience- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Instructional Design, with proven track record in accredited training development.- Demonstrated knowledge of SETA/QCTO accreditation processes, compliance, and quality assurance.- Experience in the BPO/contact centre sector advantageous.- Proven experience in working with Learning Management Information Systems (LMIS) such as Moodle (development, administration, and learner support).- Previous experience in facilitating, evaluating, and improving e-learning solutions.Skills & Competencies- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and visual).- Project management capability and ability to deliver on multiple deadlines.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Proficiency in LMIS/LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) for course design, tracking, and reporting.- Digital design proficiency (authoring tools, LMS integration, and blended delivery).- Facilitation skills and ability to evaluate learning effectiveness.- Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with SMEs, facilitators, and leadership teams.Principal Accountabilities1. Programme Development - Design, develop, and evaluate accredited and non-accredited programmes aligned to SETA/QCTO standards. - Create blended learning solutions (classroom, e-learning, workplace learning). - Develop and integrate content into LMIS systems (Moodle or similar), ensuring accessibility and learner engagement.2. Quality & Compliance - Maintain compliance with all SETA/QCTO requirements. - Prepare documentation for accreditation, audits, and quality assurance. - Regularly review and update material to ensure relevance and compliance.3. Innovation & Impact - Apply modern instructional strategies, integrating technology and digital tools. - Innovate beyond traditional methods to build scalable learning experiences. - Monitor, measure, and improve programme effectiveness using evaluation frameworks and LMIS data analytics.4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement - Work with SMEs, client stakeholders, and internal leadership teams. - Provide thought leadership in instructional design for the BPO sector. - Build strong client relationships through solution-oriented delivery.5.
