Introduction

We are currently hiring a Director of Learning and Development for our client located in Mississauga, ON. Our client is a global leader in oncology research who aims to develop 20 new medicines by 2030 while maintaining a commitment to sustainability. Our client offers a collaborative, flexible work environment that balances personal and professional commitments, with opportunities to make a meaningful impact on cancer research. This is a one-year contract opportunity with the possibility of contract renewal or permanent extension at the end of the term, available immediately.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with SMEs to create tailored learning content on the company.
Degreed learning platform; responsible for maintaining and updating content.
Align with the R&D team and companies’ approach to ensure a positive, seamless learner experience.
Oversees and manages learning plans for relevant ORSSE training, working with Business Learning Leads and the R&D Learning Technology Management team to ensure the appropriate level of consistency, quality and regulatory requirements are met in this space.
Oversees the ORSSE onboarding approach, leveraging the ORD and HR global onboarding tools, R&D foundational materials to ensure an impactful and seamless experience for new employees.
Identifies clear measures of learning outcomes for specific learning interventions and learning key performance indicators for ORSSE aligned with ORD and the companies’ standards. Builds insightful reports and analyses for leadership that demonstrates impact and ROI for learning activities.
Works with global HR T&D and Global Learning Services to curate and upload content into the relevant learning technology platforms, following the companies’ standards and best practices.
Commissions and oversees the design and build of learning content with preferred external strategic partners, vendors or institutions and ensures delivery to agreed business specifications.
Actively engages the learner audience, conducting regular voice of the employee exercises, leveraging social platforms (e.g., Workplace or it’s equivalent) and organizing/facilitating learning engagement activities.
Stay up to date with trends in learning and development practices, to keep technical learning current, fresh and engaging for the modern employee. Brings innovative approaches to functional learning activities and recommendations for L&D development across Biometrics.
Liaises with ORD L&D Team to share best practices and collaborate to efficiently and effectively solve ORSSE training needs.

Experience

Qualified to degree level preferably in a scientific/technical field and/or higher-level qualifications or accreditations in learning and development related subject area (preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (7-10 years’ experience preferred)
Higher level qualifications or accreditations in learning and development related discipline (preferred) and/or a proven track record in development and delivery of learning and development solutions, preferably in a Pharma R&D environment.
Experience of the R&D drug development life cycle, working in a highly regulated environment and an understanding of the learning styles and needs of the R&D professional.
Regulatory Affairs knowledge & experience preferred.
Excellent working knowledge of adult learning theories, learning design and delivery and capability development, and experience applying these in a technical business setting.
Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work in a matrix environment and influence/lead others without authority.
Delivery and outcome focused, ability to set and manage priorities, resources, and goals for complex, fast-paced projects.
Problem solving skills; able to conduct root cause analysis and apply critical/analytical thinking to identify the most appropriate solutions to drive business performance.
Expert communicator. Able to motivate and inspire the learner by simplifying the complex and making learning relevant to them.
Able to quickly adapt to a continuously evolving business and learning landscape.
Excellent teammate who fosters a collaborative work environment where everyone can contribute their best work.
Models an agile learning approach by being committed to own professional development.
